Chief “Docky” man Nabbed in Bamenda - Mayors Implicated, Contractors flee

Benjamin Ngah in Bamenda
The recent publication of a list of fifteen companies suspended here in the North West Region for forgery by authorities of the Ministry of Public Contracts (MINMAP) and the brouhaha that ensued is yet to settle as the chief suspect has been nabbed.
Mr. Julius Achu, was nabbed in the early hours of Tuesday, 3rd March 2015 along the commercial Avenue Bamenda by agents of the North West Gendarmerie legion following their investigations and a tip from one of his clients. Mr. Ashu who, for sure was on duty was made to believe by the security men that he had a hot file to treat to facilitate the award of the contract the construct a hospital in Ndu Sub Division, Donga Mantung, quickly landed himself into the dragnet of the gendarmerie officers. He was immediately whisked up to the gendarmerie legion office up station where he is currently undergoing further interrogation and examination.
This reporter was hinted that many contractors who have dealings with Mr. Ashu came knocking that day and when told that he had been nabbed, took on their hills. Many of them whose documents were with the “docky” man pending collection and expression union receipts testifying the transfers of cash for payment for such sneaky documents are on the run for fear that further investigations would incriminate them into the “docky” deal. This reporter met with one of them along the commercial Avenue who expressed surprise but briskly and stealthily jumped behind a bike and the drove off.
In what looks like an impending cataclysm to some mayors of the region, some utterances from the culprit filtered into this reporter’s ears. He mumbled the names of some mayors whom for sure might be linked to the deal in one way or the other. That is, some of them acted as accomplices to Ashu for the past many years that he had operated the business of defrauding the state by helping who ever wanted to escape the payment of several forms of taxes.
Ashu had in possession a bag containing the stamps of all categories of people.  The stamps well packaged and labeled ranged from those of the minster of public contracts, governors of almost all the region, senior divisional officers, delegates, mayors and other contracting officials. In fact with the entire “arsenal” he had put in place and the sample signatures of all the authorities, he could build any file within hours.
Speaking to Mr. Ngala Edwards and Apande Ediage, chairman of the Regional Tenders’ Board  and the Regional Delegate of Public Contracts respectively immediately after the incident, they expressed happiness and satisfaction that the mafia has finally been dismantled.                    They also expressed fears that their signature might probably had been forged on several counts and contracts awarded to wrong persons without due course.
All eyes are now therefore set on the authorities of the Gendarmerie legion, Up Station for justice to take its course.
