He was speaking during one of those
special ceremonies organized to hand over school structures in Government Technical
College Ntigi in Tubah, Bambili and Ndeung, Bamenda III on Friday 20th
of February, 2015.
According to the governor, SHUMAS-Cameroon
has distinguished herself as a veritable and trustworthy partner, working in
partnership with government in building schools, hospitals and alleviating
poverty in various domains. He challenged other NGOs to emulate the example of
SHUMAS-Cameroon that is working hard to ensure that every child around the
country is educated.
As the representative of the government
of the republic and of the Head of State, the governor promised the total collaboration
of the state of Cameroon to the efforts deployed by SHUMAS-Cameroon and her partners, Building Schools For Africa
UK. SHUMAS-Cameroon, he said is accompanying the government of the republic in
a marvelous way towards vision 2035 and as such needs the support and
collaboration of each and everyone.
While encouraging SHUMAS not to give up
something well started despite the odds they might face, he cautioned the
beneficiary communities, to make good use of the structures so that future
generations could also benefit. He further tabled to SHUMAS the plight of the
people of Fura-Awah, one of the localities in Menchum which he recently
visited, and which is virtually unreachable.

in Ntigi, Mayor Tanjong Martin hailed the partnership existing between SHUMAS
and his council which has brought about the fruits GTC Ntigi was reaping that
day. He said SHUMAS-Cameroon was a reliable friend who would remain forever
engraved in their minds. In the same vein, the principals of the various
schools praise SHUMAS-Cameroon and her partners for making them proud.
Taking the rostrum, it was an elated Director
of SHUMAS-Cameroon, Nformi Stephen Ndzerem who in the first place thanked the
Cameroon government for providing an enabling “environment for NGOs like
SHUMAS-Cameroon to operate and contribute to the development of the Cameroon.”
It is because of this opportunity and the works executed by SHUMAS all over
Cameroon without discrimination that it has been granted a special consultative
status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
SHUMAS Cameroon, he said targets
rural communities as well as urban communities with a “strong believe in
integrated rural development as a better way to make bigger impacts in
communities.” SHUMAS has already constructed and rehabilitated more than 700
classrooms equipped desks, tables and toilets. About 35 schools have been
engaged in environmental projects aimed at inculcating in children the values
of environmental management and protection. Also, about 600 children have
benefitted from the SHUMAS scholarship scheme to boost and ensure universal
primary education for all.
Despite the
difficulties SHUMAS-Cameroon encounters in the implementation of projects which
include insufficient mobility means, lack of adequate funds to pay salaries to
staff and the running cost and other logistical problems, the Director, Nformi
Stephen Ndzerem said they were still determined and motivated to carry on with
the vision to improve lives and reducing poverty.
While commissioning and handing over
the keys into four classrooms well equipped, a four room modern toilet bloc
with wash hand facilities, a school garden, four drinking pails with cups,
twenty seven desk, three chairs and tables at GTC Ntigi, the governor called on both the teachers and

SHUMAS Delegation in his Palace expressed gratitude and satisfaction to the
work of SHUMAS in his Fondom and thanked Ta Nformi Stephen Ndzerem for his
